Gourmet food gifts people actually use

The best gourmet food gifts get opened, shared and remembered. This collection brings together products we like to give ourselves: things that look good in the box, taste better than what the recipient would buy on an ordinary day, and need little or no cooking.

  • English Tea Collection: six collectible tins shaped and printed as London icons, filled with finest English teas, in a gift box with a window.
  • Philippe Beaulieu dark chocolate: two 70% bean-to-bar bars, one with roasted pistachios and candied orange peel, one with caramel, roasted almonds and fleur de sel. Both are labeled vegan and kosher (OU-D).
  • Fermín jamón ibérico de bellota: hand-carved style slices from 100% Ibérico, acorn-fed pigs. Product of Spain.
  • Whole bottarga di muggine: cured grey mullet roe sealed in wax, in a black gift box. Product of Italy.
  • Mr. Moris Queen crab meat: sweet, delicate crab meat in a white-and-gold gift box.

Gourmet gifts here start from $14.99 for a single chocolate bar. The tea collection is $61.49, and the jamón, bottarga and crab sit between $43.50 and $65.99, so you can give one special item or put several together.

A tea gift set for tea lovers

A tea gift set is one of the safest gifts you can give. It suits almost any age, it keeps well, and it does not need a fridge. Our English Tea Collection is built for gifting: six tins designed as a red double-decker bus, Big Ben, a red telephone box, a Royal Mail post box and two black-and-white London street scenes.

The tins are made to keep and refill, so the gift stays on the kitchen shelf long after the tea is gone. That makes it a good choice for Anglophiles, anyone who has visited London, and people who already have everything.

To make it a complete English tea gift set, add one or two Philippe Beaulieu dark chocolate bars. The pistachio and orange bar goes well with a cup of black tea; the caramel, almond and sea salt bar is a good match for tea with milk. If you want it done for you, the London Tea Time Gift bundles the six tins and both bars at 15% off.

Serving ideas to pass along with the gift:

  • Afternoon tea with scones, clotted cream and jam.
  • A square of dark chocolate on the saucer.
  • Store the tea in a cool, dry place, away from strong odors.

Gourmet gift ideas by recipient

Not sure what to choose? Start with the person, not the product.

For foodies

Give something they are unlikely to buy for themselves. Jamón ibérico de bellota is one of Spain's great foods: the pigs feed on acorns during the Montanera season, which gives the fat a sweet, nutty taste. Whole bottarga is the connoisseur's way to enjoy cured mullet roe: slice it paper-thin with olive oil and lemon zest, or grate it over pasta. For a bigger gift, add something from our foie gras collection.

For hosts

Bring something that can go straight onto the table. Queen crab meat mixed with crème fraîche, lemon and chives on mini toasts is a festive starter that takes minutes. A ready-made board from our gift sets, such as a Spanish tapas plate, works the same way.

For tea and chocolate lovers

The English Tea Collection with one or two dark chocolate bars. Both bars are labeled vegan and kosher (OU-D), which helps when you are not sure of someone's diet. Note that both contain tree nuts.

For clients and colleagues

Choose items that look good unopened and travel well. Tea, chocolate and the boxed bottarga and crab all come in gift-ready packaging.

Corporate food gifts and larger orders

Corporate food gifts should be easy to send, easy to receive and pleasant to open. Gourmet gifts in their own boxes do much of the work for you: the tea collection, the bottarga and the crab meat already come in gift packaging, so there is no wrapping to arrange.

A few ways to plan a corporate order:

  • One gift for everyone. The English Tea Collection with a chocolate bar is a consistent, crowd-pleasing choice that does not need refrigeration.
  • Tiered gifts. Tea and chocolate for the wider team, and jamón ibérico or bottarga for key clients.
  • Ready-made bundles. Our gift sets combine three products at 15% off, which keeps the cost per gift predictable.

Orders of $300 and over ship free within the contiguous U.S., and a company order usually passes that line quickly. If you are sending to many addresses or need help choosing, call the Empero Caviar boutique at +1 (954) 251-2817 or see our wholesale page. We have been sourcing and hand-grading caviar since 2014 and are happy to help you put together the right mix.

What ships well, and how we ship it

Some gourmet gifts are perishable and some are not. Knowing the difference helps you choose the right gift for the right address.

  • Tea and chocolate are dry goods. Store them in a cool, dry place. They are the best choice when you are not sure the recipient will be home the day the box arrives. Chocolate can soften in strong heat, so put it somewhere cool on arrival.
  • Jamón ibérico should be kept refrigerated. Open it about 10 minutes before serving.
  • Crab meat, bottarga and foie gras: follow the storage note on each product page once the box arrives. Foie gras is not shipped to California because of state law.

How delivery works:

  • Perishable orders are packed cold and shipped Express, arriving in 1–2 business days within the contiguous U.S.
  • Free shipping on orders of $300 and over.
  • Same-day local delivery from Coral Gables to Palm Beach, Monday–Saturday: $50, or free on $300 and over.
  • Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico ship at extra rates.

Inspect the box on arrival. If there is a quality issue, report it within 24 hours for an exchange or refund. See our shipping policy for details.

When to order holiday food gifts

Holiday food gifts need a little planning, especially when they include perishable items. We do not deliver on major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) or on the day after them.

For Christmas food gifts, that means no deliveries on December 25 or 26. For Thanksgiving, no deliveries on Thanksgiving Day or the Friday after. Since Express shipping takes 1–2 business days, order early in the week before the holiday so the gift arrives on a business day and goes straight into the fridge.

A few more tips:

  • Send perishable gifts to an address where someone will be home, such as an office on a workday. In South Florida, same-day delivery (Monday–Saturday) lets you pick the day.
  • If the timing is tight, choose tea and chocolate, which do not need refrigeration.
  • Add a handwritten card so the recipient knows who it is from.
